Frequently asked questions about VITRUM II
Vitrum II: Aluminum hardware, protruding rosettes.
Vitrum III: Stainless steel or stainless steel-look hardware, all rosettes recessed.
- Float glass is not shatterproof.
- It is standard flat glass that can break under mechanical stress or impact.
- When float glass breaks, it shatters into sharp, jagged pieces that can be potentially dangerous.
Schäfer Partition Systems does not use float glass, but only tempered glass (ESG) or laminated safety glass (VSG)
Safety glass: Special raw materials with low iron oxide content are used to manufacture particularly clear float glass (also known as Optiwhite™ or Ultraclear, depending on the manufacturer). This results not only in very high light transmission but also, especially with thick glass, in a relatively color-neutral view, particularly when compared to standard float glass (green tint).
