The environmental certificate of the Forest Stewardship™ Council (FSC™), which demands particularly high standards, documents the promotion of environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically viable management of forests.
The Forest Stewardship Council™, better known as the FSC™, is an international, non-profit and independent organisation that has made it its mission to preserve the world's forests through exemplary forest management. The basis for this is the certification of forests and downstream industries in accordance with globally uniform criteria, in which the FSC™ pays consideration to economic, ecological and social requirements of the resource of "forest" in equal measure. The organisation is committed to the sustainable management of forests on a global scale, preventing over-exploitation, protecting rare species and preventing human rights violations.
Annual inspections of all certified companies ensure the highest level of credibility and transparency. The FSC™ is for this reason the only forest certification system supported by both environmental and social organisations as well as the forestry and timber industries.
