How we integrate certified materials and documented environmental information into our processes.

The efficient use of resources, along with the use of certified materials and documented environmental information, forms an integral part of our business processes. Below, we provide an overview of selected measures:

Examples include:

• The separation of recyclable materials by type wherever possible and their return to the recycling stream.
• Electricity generation through the company's own photovoltaic system to reduce dependence on externally sourced energy.
• The thermal utilization of residual wood materials generated during production in the company's own heating system for heating company buildings.
• The supply of almost the entire Schäfer product range using wood sourced in accordance with the requirements of the FSC™ standard (FSC™-C147242). For selected products, materials from FSC™-certified supply chains are available. The certification documents compliance with the requirements of the FSC™ standard within the certified chain of custody.
• As a PEFC partner (PEFC/04-31-3143), we apply the requirements of the PEFC standard within the certified chain of custody. Through our participation in the PEFC system, we support the procurement of wood products from PEFC-certified sources.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an internationally recognized certification system for sustainable forest management and chain-of-custody certification.

As a PEFC partner (PEFC/04-31-3143), we apply the requirements of the PEFC standard within our certified supply chain. For selected products, materials from PEFC-certified sources are available.

Reasons for PEFC

Certified Supply Chain
PEFC certification documents compliance with defined requirements throughout certified supply chains. The certification includes criteria for forest management as well as requirements for the traceability of timber and timber-based products.

Independent Verification
Compliance with PEFC requirements is audited by independent certification bodies. These assessments are based on recognized certification and accreditation procedures.

Availability of Certified Materials
PEFC enables forest owners and companies of various sizes to participate in the certification system. As a result, timber and timber-based products from PEFC-certified sources are available across a wide range of markets and applications.

Social and Organizational Requirements
In addition to forest management requirements, PEFC also considers further criteria within the supply chain. These include organizational, social, and documentation-related requirements defined by the certification system.

FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council™) is an international recognised certification system for forest management and chain of custody certification.

The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™) is an independent international organisation. The FSC™ system defines requirements for forest certification and chain of custody certification and enables the traceability of materials within certified supply chains.
FSC™ certification takes environmental, social and economic requirements into account throughout the certified supply chain. Compliance with these requirements is regularly verified by independent certification bodies. Schäfer Trennwandsysteme (FSC™-C147242) offers materials from FSC™-certified supply chains for selected product ranges. The certification documents compliance with the applicable FSC™ requirements within the certified supply chain.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for Several Product Groups).

Schäfer Trennwandsysteme is the first manufacturer of sanitary partition systems to provide certified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for various product groups within our portfolio:

• Sanitary partitions made of chipboard
• Sanitary partitions made of sandwich panels
• Sanitary partitions made of glass
• Sanitary partitions and furniture made of HPL

Our EPDs provide reliable and standardized environmental information covering the entire life cycle of the respective products, from raw material extraction through to end-of-life treatment. This gives architects, planners, and building owners a sound data basis for their planning and assessment processes.

The EPD data provided can be considered within building certification schemes such as DGNB, LEED, and BREEAM. In addition, they enable a transparent comparison of selected environmental indicators across different products.

Our objective is to combine high product quality with transparent and verifiable environmental information. Through our certified EPDs, we provide robust product data to support the planning and evaluation of construction projects.
